Meet your Orthodontists

Dr. Stephen Searcy

Building Friendships While Transforming Lives

Not only does the practice of orthodontics enable me to create beautiful smiles and improve oral health, it also allows me to become part of each patient’s life. Although the treatment journey can be challenging at times, my team and I try to make it as pleasant and comfortable as possible.

When treatment is complete and patients see all that they have achieved, we celebrate with them!! They’ve attained an incredible smile they will hopefully enjoy — for life!

Being an orthodontist is a dream come true. I knew in 5th grade that I was going to be an orthodontist. My mom and my two orthodontists, Drs. Gaston and Price, influenced and encouraged me to follow that dream. After practicing for more than 40 years, I still love what I do.

Orthodontics allows me to build friendships with many people and their families. It blends art, science, and technical expertise to create beautiful, confident smiles and friendships. I appreciate the opportunity to transform a timid, self-conscious child into a strong, confident adult and to help my adult patients develop the beautiful smile they’ve long desired.

Searcy Orthodontics

My team is amazing! They project care, confidence, and professionalism. With more than 115 years of combined orthodontic experience, they have the knowledge and passion to provide the highest quality of clinical care and customer service.

I’m proud of the reputation we’ve built in the Lafayette community, and a lot of that is due to my remarkable staff. It is an honor to be seeing and treating the grandchildren of some of our first patients today. That confidence and commitment from our patient family means everything to us and keeps us going!

Education

  • Bachelor of Science – University of Louisiana at Monroe
  • Doctorate of Dental Surgery and orthodontic certificate – LSU State Health Sciences Center, New Orleans

More than 40 years after completing my formal orthodontic studies, I’m still actively learning about the specialty. I’m very involved in our local chapter of Spear Education, an internationally renowned continuing education forum. I also regularly attend orthodontic meetings and lectures locally, regionally, and nationally.

By staying current on new modalities, technology, and emerging research, I continually improve my capabilities. In turn, my patients receive the ideal treatment for their specific concerns and goals.

Beyond the Office

Born and raised in Monroe, I have made Lafayette my home since 1977. My amazing wife, Rocks Ann, and I have two beautiful daughters: Lindsey Saterfiel, who is a general dentist right next door, and Emily, who is an estate manager in Los Angeles. We have three grandkids who live close by so we get to spend a lot of time with them. I will do anything and everything possible to guide, nourish and love them the best I can.

When I’m not working, you’ll probably find me at my camp on False River by New Roads. I really enjoy cruising on my party barge: jamming to my music and enjoying the great outdoors.

I’m also active in our community. I’ve been involved with Big Brothers/Big Sisters, the Games of Acadiana, and Donated Dental Services. These organizations provide a way for me to thank Lafayette for the blessings that have been bestowed on me, and to strengthen and make our community happier and healthier.

Meet Dr. Johnson

Dr. Johnson

Dr. Jacob Johnson has a knack for straightening smiles — and putting them on faces, too! Originally from Southwest Arkansas, Dr. Johnson always had a feeling he’d end up somewhere special. That “somewhere” turned out to be Lafayette, Louisiana, a place he fell in love with from the moment he arrived. It didn’t take long for him to realize this was exactly where he wanted to plant roots, build a family, and create a life filled with crawfish boils, good music, and even better company. Dr. Johnson’s journey into the world of dentistry began at Louisiana State University, where he earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery. But his passion for creating beautiful, confident smiles led him to specialize in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics at the University of Oklahoma. While at OU, he also earned a Master of Science degree, further deepening his expertise in the field. Now, he’s thrilled to be helping the people of Lafayette achieve the smiles they’ve always dreamed of.

Family Life

Dr. Johnson is happiest when he’s spending time with his amazing wife, Dr. Alaina
Gauthier Johnson, and their beautiful daughter, Julianne. Alaina, a Lafayette native, is not only his biggest supporter but also his partner in building a loving home. The two met during their dental journeys and have been inseparable ever since. Together, they enjoy exploring Lafayette’s incredible food scene, discovering hidden gems around town, and embracing all the culture this vibrant city has to offer. As for little Julianne, she’s the light of their lives! Whether she’s giggling, toddling around the house, or keeping her parents on their toes, she fills their home with endless joy. Dr. Johnson proudly claims his favorite title — Dad — and cherishes every moment spent chasing Julianne around and watching her grow.

Hobbies and Interests

In his free time, Dr. Johnson loves to sneak in a round of golf (though he’s the first to admit his short game could use some work). He also enjoys family outings, especially when they involve sampling the many amazing local restaurants Lafayette has to offer. Warm, approachable, and passionate about his work, Dr. Johnson is more than just an orthodontist — he’s part of the Lafayette community, and he’s thrilled to be making it a little brighter, one smile at a time.
